India is and Will Always Be a Powerhouse in Outsourcing
January 31st, 2010 |
India has been the powerhouse for the outsourcing IT and BPO work ever since its start, and so shall it remain according to the latest study made by U.K’s Warwick Business School. Though China has really raised its standard and has now become a strong competitor for India, the study shows that India has gotten all that lets it take the lead in the IT outsourcing business. There are plenty of reasons why India would still be a leader in the outsourcing business.
One of the reasons is that the Indian outsourcing giants Wipro, Genpact, TCS, and Infosys “assisted in taking the Indian economy to a whopping 9% rate of growth ahead of the global economic downturn that roiled investment markets in 2008.”
The top executives of these outsourcing giants have realized the growing outsourcing market in China and therefore, they have already made a move into the mainland. Recently, Wipro has made a delivery center in Chengdu and it already has another in Shanghai. The newly built center at Chengdu will be engaged in providing services for banking, financial services, manufacturing and insurance sectors. The gulfnews.com reported that “The center will offer expertise in Chinese, Japanese, and English.” On the other hand, Genpact already has its outsourcing service center in several cities of China such as Changchun, Shanghai, and Dalian.
According to the report by WBS the outsourcing market of China is not as developed as that of India. It states that China will be a good alternate for outsourcing but it will have a tough time in maintaining the market for North America and Western Europe. The report clearly mentions that India is truly the powerhouse in outsourcing and that is not only because it’s affordable but it is also smart.
