2009 Makes Outsourcing a Requirement
February 28th, 2009 |During these economic times when cash flow is tight, the challenges are right in front of your eyes, outsourcing becomes a smart option. For businesses large and small, outsourcing can make budgets go further.
In The Four Hour Work Week, Tim Ferris writes about outsourcing in a way that is especially interesting for small business owners, who need to maximize the value of their own time while keeping costs reasonable. Ferris explains how he manages his successful company while tripping around the world, putting a minimal amount of time into actually running his business. How does he do it?
He outsources.
He outsources everything, including some of the writing and research for the book that has made him so famous. He leverages his time and lets other trusted partners get the basics done. This way he can enjoy what Small business has to really offer….Freedom.
Many entrepreneurs outsource customer services to Asia with mixed results. Some are bringing it back to North America because their customer expectations have not been met. The unhappiness has stemmed primarily from language difficulties or the agent’s lack of understanding of simple North American standards. That said, even if you don’t want to send your business off-shore for the cheap wages, outsourcing with North America can still make a lot of sense.
Do you wonder if adding an extra sales person will grow your business? Don’t need the headaches of training, extra infrastructure. Obvious choices might be printing, marketing, and training, but what about customer service, hiring, human resources, event co-ordination, conference planning, travel booking, booking appointments, taking orders, coaching, and the list goes on. In fact, just about anything you do in your business can probably be done by someone else.
“But,” you might think, “It’s more expensive.” On a per unit basis, it might be, but if you factor in the overhead, the cost of staffing, managing, the cost of employee mistakes and the liability, you may find that it can be less expensive in the long run. We see online businesses like ecommerce store, serial entrepreneurs outsourcing, ad placements, follow up emails, customer service for peak times.
Partner will a North American based company is easier then most think. Most act as the project management aspect, especially when requirement for low cost weekly labour is demanded.
Considering it?
